During a visit to a client’s home in Colorado for whom I’d done previous commissions, I noted a bare spot on the wall above their bar. After a literal 30 second exchange we both arrived at the idea for a tromp le oui piece. Instead of tending the bar and looking into a blank wall, we decided to make it look like the barman is catering to a couple of local cowpokes back from a hard days work. I loved the idea and began sketching as soon as I got back to the studio.
In the end the sepia aesthetic fit perfectly with the look and feel of the bar. (always a perk knowing the exact space a piece will end up)
